What is back pain?
Back pain is pain along the spine and at its surrounding structures which can include the pelvic and hip region. It can present as sharp local pain but also as a vague dull ache.
Back pain can come on suddenly during specific movements (lumbago) or slowly over time.
Back pain can also cause radiations down the leg.
