Why do ribs hurt?

Ribs are very strong bones in our body and normally don‘t break untless there is a severe impact on then or an underlying condition present which might predisposed bones to be more brittle. Very commonly, rib pain occurs after having been sick for a while due to coughing for instance which can strain the small muscles between the ribs.

However, also issues with the lungs can cause rib pain. If you‘re experiencing sudden onset chest pain or difficulties breathing, especially worsened by exerhetion, please seek medical health!
